Nsolo is a five-room bush camp on a bend of the seasonal Luwi River, inland in South Luangwa National Park. It is run by Time + Tide as one of its walking safari camps, and the OpenStreetMap name calls it a lodge where the operator calls it a camp.

Best for

Walking safari travellers who want to be away from the river-frontage lodges, and anyone prepared to trade comfort for proximity to wildlife: the camp sits beside an established elephant path.

Location

A bend in the seasonal Luwi River, inland South Luangwa National Park, Eastern Province. The dry riverbed is used as a route by lions, and wild dogs have denned nearby.

Rooms and style at Nsolo

Five safari rooms raised on wooden platforms along the dry riverbed. Each has a feather-top bed, an open-air en-suite bathroom and a shaded private deck.

Facilities at Nsolo

The camp is deliberately simple and publishes no facilities list beyond the rooms. Dining and activities run from camp, and Nsolo forms part of Time + Tide’s linked circuit with Luwi, Kakuli, Mchenja and Chinzombo.

Trade-offs and what to know

Open 20 May to 15 November only, and closed for the wet season.

Open-air bathrooms and platform rooms. This is a bush camp, not a lodge.

Five rooms, so availability goes early in the dry season.

Getting there and getting around

Mfuwe International Airport takes scheduled flights from Lusaka. The camp is inland from the Luangwa River and is normally reached by a long game drive as part of a circuit. Movement is on foot with a guide or by vehicle.

Explore the area

The Luwi is a seasonal tributary of the Luangwa and the country around it is classic walking safari terrain. For the rest of the valley see our Luangwa Valley pages.

Before you book

Confirm your dates fall inside the 20 May to 15 November window. Ask how the camp fits into a circuit, since most guests combine it. And be clear you are booking a bush camp.
