Despite sharing a name with the nearby copper mine it is an independent business open to the general public, run by Royal Kansanshi Hotel Ltd, a privately owned family Zambian company established in 2007.

The social heart of the property is The Lappa, a timber structure roughly 40 m by 20 m that houses reception, the bar, the restaurant, two meeting rooms, a deck and the kitchen. The restaurant serves both a la carte and buffet meals. There is a swimming pool with an adjacent bar and a children’s playground. Conference and function facilities handle workshops, meetings, weddings and parties, and there is an in-house bakery producing cakes.

The market here is predominantly corporate and government rather than safari or leisure tourism, and the out-of-town setting means taxis for anything in Solwezi.
Getting there and getting around
Solwezi is reached by the tarred road west from Chingola and has its own airport. Old Chingola Road runs east out of town. A car or taxi is needed.
