Mansa
Mansa is the provincial capital of Luapula, set in the wet, green country between Lake Bangweulu and the Congo border. It is a well-serviced town by northern Zambian standards, with government offices, banks and an airstrip, and it is the natural base for the Luapula River waterfalls, Ntumbachushi and Mumbuluma among them.
Most visitors here are working rather than holidaying, and the lodges reflect that: comfortable, functional and geared to officials, contractors and business travellers. For anyone exploring Luapula’s falls and the western approaches to the Bangweulu wetlands, Mansa is the place with the infrastructure to make it practical.
