Mazabuka & Monze
Mazabuka and Monze are the two Southern Province farming towns on the T1 between Lusaka and Livingstone, roughly an hour apart, set among sugar estates, cattle country and the southern edge of the Kafue Flats. Mazabuka is the bigger of the two and the centre of Zambia’s sugar industry; Monze is smaller, older and closer to the turn-off for Lochinvar National Park.
Almost nobody comes here for a holiday, and that is the point. These are the towns you sleep in when the drive between Lusaka and Livingstone is too long for one day, when you are working in the farming belt, or when you want to be within reach of the Flats without paying safari-camp rates. The accommodation is correspondingly practical: guest houses, roadside lodges and a few larger properties serving the estates.
We treat Mazabuka and Monze as one destination because travellers use them the same way and they sit on the same road. Each listing below is filed here on its own verified coordinates, and each is our own write-up rather than an operator’s description. Availability is checked live through our booking partner.
