Sinamu Lodge, registered as Sinamu Lodge Ltd, sits on Luzuwa Road inside the central business district of Kasama, the provincial capital of Zambia’s Northern Province. Banks, shops and the bus station are within walking distance, and the grounds are planted and green, which is unusual for a town-centre site.

Best for

Self-drive and business travellers using Kasama as a base for Chishimba Falls and the Northern Province circuit, and anyone needing conference space in town.

Location

Luzuwa Road, in the Kasama CBD. Kasama is the natural base for Chishimba Falls and the northern waterfall circuit, and the lodge is central rather than out of town.

Rooms and style at Sinamu Lodge

The property has been built in phases: there is a newer accommodation block described as modern, alongside older rooms. Standards vary noticeably between the two, so it is worth asking which block you are in.

Facilities at Sinamu Lodge

There is a swimming pool and a pool-side area, and a gym with basic equipment. Conference facilities are provided and the lodge is used for seminars, workshops and business meetings, with catering supplied for events. Breakfast is served and the kitchen also handles food orders and delivery. Reception operates around the clock.

Trade-offs and what to know

The older rooms are noticeably weaker than the newer block, and maintenance and housekeeping are reported as inconsistent. There is no live official website and no listing on the main booking platforms, so booking is by telephone.

Getting there and getting around

Kasama sits on the Great North Road corridor and has an airport and a TAZARA rail station. In town, the CBD is walkable; for the falls you need a vehicle.

Explore the area

Chishimba Falls is the main sight near Kasama, and the town is on the route north to Mbala, Kalambo Falls and Lake Tanganyika. The Mwela rock art site lies just east of town. For the wider area see our Northern Lakes and Waterfalls pages.

Before you book

Ask specifically for a room in the newer block. Confirm whether an event is booked on your dates, and expect to arrange everything by phone.
