Kitwe

Kitwe is the Copperbelt’s second major centre and its accommodation is similar in character to Ndola’s: hotels, lodges and guesthouses aimed at mining and contracting traffic, concentrated around the town centre, Parklands and the Nkana area. Standards are predictable and the practical things — parking, generators, dependable Wi-Fi, room service that runs late — tend to be better here than the room photographs suggest.

It is a place to be efficient rather than to linger. If you are working on the Copperbelt, staying in Kitwe rather than Ndola saves a fifty-kilometre commute each way; if you are passing through, either town works and the choice comes down to which side of the region your next stop is on. Book ahead for weekdays and expect weekend availability to open up.
