Mika Hotel Kabulonga is the flagship city property of the Mika Hotels group, on Plot 116 off Kudu Road in Kabulonga. The operator describes it as a boutique hotel, and at 46 rooms it is small enough for that to be fair.
Best for
Business visitors and anyone with work in the embassy and diplomatic quarter, and travellers who want a smaller hotel than the Great East Road chains offer. Not the choice if you need to be on Cairo Road.
Location
Plot 116, off Kudu Road, Kabulonga, Lusaka. Kabulonga is an established low-density residential district east of the centre, and the operator puts the hotel about 10 km from the central business district and roughly 25 km from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
Rooms and style at Mika Hotel Kabulonga
46 rooms: 40 standard doubles, four standard twins and two executive suites. The suites have a living room, a kitchenette and a jacuzzi.
Facilities at Mika Hotel Kabulonga
The Milile restaurant serving local and international dishes, a bar with live entertainment on selected nights, a swimming pool, an in-house gym with sauna and steam bath, free Wi-Fi, room service, in-house laundry, 24-hour security with CCTV and shuttle services. Four conference halls seat up to 200 people.
Trade-offs and what to know
Only two suites. If you want one, book early.
Kabulonga is residential and quiet, which also means you drive for most things.
The Mika group runs four Lusaka properties. The one that trades simply as Mika Hotel is this one, but confirm Kabulonga when booking.
Getting there and getting around
Kabulonga is reached from the centre by Los Angeles Boulevard and Kabulonga Road, roughly twenty minutes in ordinary traffic. The airport is on the far side of the city, east on the Great East Road. A vehicle or taxi is needed for anything beyond the Kabulonga shops.
Explore the area
The Kabulonga and Leopards Hill retail parades are close, the diplomatic quarter is on the doorstep, and the Lusaka National Museum and Kabwata Cultural Village are short drives into the centre. For the wider area see our Lusaka and the Kafue Flats pages.
Before you book
Specify Kabulonga rather than just Mika. Ask for a suite by name if you want the kitchenette. Check which nights carry live entertainment if you are a light sleeper, and arrange the shuttle in advance.
