Sioma & Ngonye Falls
Sioma Ngonye Falls sits on the Zambezi in the far south-west, on the long road between Senanga and Sesheke. It is a wide, curved series of rapids and falls rather than a single drop, and it is one of the few genuine reasons to break the drive through this part of the country.
Accommodation is limited to a small number of riverside lodges and campsites near the falls and in the national park around them. Facilities are simple, the setting is excellent, and almost everyone who stays is travelling the western route rather than coming specifically. Fuel is scarce along this road, so fill up before you commit to the stretch and treat published drive times as optimistic in the wet season.
