Chingola
Chingola is a mining town in the northern Copperbelt, and its handful of hotels and guesthouses serve contractors, visiting staff and the traffic heading towards the Kasumbalesa border. Expect functional, secure and well-run rather than scenic; the better properties have reliable backup power and proper parking, which are the things that actually matter here.
For visitors, the main draw nearby is the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage, one of the largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in the world, which sits about an hour and a half north-west of town on a road that deteriorates in the rains. Chingola is the practical overnight for that visit, and worth booking ahead because the local supply is thin.
